Common Household Products That Can Poison Your Children
Common Household Products That Can Poison Your Children
by: Reverend Brenda Hoffman
In the United States alone, someone is poisoned every few seconds. 40% of these cases involve children under the age of 3. 50% of these cases involve children under the age of 6. For this reason, it is important to lock up household chemicals in a high cabinet that is out of the reach of children. In 75% of these cases, the poison was a common household product (ie prescription drugs, non-prescription pain killers, vitamins, cosmetics, personal care and cleaning products, house plants, tobacco products and alcohol). Here is a simple check list to use within your home.

Hi Moms and Dads,
So, you had your precious baby, and you couldn’t resist — all of those cute and beautiful baby dresses, rompers, suits, jean sets, christening gowns, onesies and unique designer baby clothes (like Tommy Hilfiger) that called to you when you were in the Gap, Old Navy, Osh Kosh or Little Me. Make Your Child’s First Days of School Memorable
by: Patricia Twitchell
Do you have a child or grandchild getting ready to start the school year? If yes, you are in a position to make the experience a great one.
The first few days of school can be exciting and yet, overwhelming for many young students. It is a time of change for parents, grandparents and children.
How you handle yourself can directly impact the child’s experience. The younger the child the more important it is for the parent (or legal guardian) to do whatever they can to make it a positive experience.

Do you feel frustrated and overwhelmed because you have too many obligations, errands, and lists to keep track of? Do important things sometimes fall through the cracks? You can reduce your stress and stay on top of important details by using a simple time-management tool that I call a “skeleton schedule.”
The skeleton schedule is simple enough to use on a regular basis, yet powerful enough to organize an entire week. It works because it reduces your scheduling to the bare bones - the minimum that you need to do to make your week a success.

Discover More About The Importance of Early Childhood Education

Were you or your children ready for Kindergarten at the age of five years old? Most students pass the physical, emotional, and academic criteria to enter Kindergarten. However, some students have trouble transitioning from preschool to Kindergarten in their early childhood education. These children can benefit from early childhood education programs such as Head Start.
There is a constant debate as to why some students are not ready for Kindergarten like their peers. There are varying circumstances that can cause this to happen. The student may not be emotionally or developmentally ready. Their experiences at home or a physical disability may have impaired their psychological and physical development.

Baby is into her fourth month now.
Mom’s milk is best.
Breast milk is still important and sufficient to take care of baby’s needs. If you are a working mom you might need a combo of bottle and breast. Alternatively, you can express milk into a bottle for your baby’s caregiver to feed her.
While feeding baby, do watch to see that the nipple and neck are always filled with formula, to avoid baby taking in too much air. And remember to burp her after every feed.

Games To Encourage Thinking Skills
by: Steve Hall
There is no doubt about it, using computer games is a great way to encourage children to expand their realm of thinking. Your options for entertaining your child may seem numbered. Many people allow their children to spend quite a bit of time in front of the television. But, what good does that do? If you want them to learn something while they are zoned out, you are completely lost. But, if you flip on the computer, download a great game, you may actually be able to encourage them to learn more and you will encourage good thinking skills as well.

Cell Phones for Kids - How Young is Too Young?

Take a random tween, age 8-12, place them in front of a rotary phone and observe at the blank stare of bewilderment. Yes, gone are the days of the landline, pushed aside by the next wave of technological advancement. Mobile phones are fast displacing landlines in many homes; accompanying this movement is the fact kids regularly use and know how to use these cell phones. The mobility of cell phones means you can be anywhere and have the necessity, or should I say the convenience, of a phone.
No commentsThe Truth About Labor and Childbirth
Labor and childbirth was an amazing, positive experience for me, both times. I am very fortunate, I know. But I do believe that if you prepare yourself through education (reading books, reading websites like this one, taking prenatal classes, etc) and taking good care of yourself while you are pregnant, you will have a far greater chance of a pleasant birth experience.
There are many things you can do to increase your chances of an empowering childbirth experience. These are the things I did:
